Brewtroller Projekt versucht den Neuanfang auf Kickstarter

Hallo Braugemeinde,

Allzeit gut Sud,

Also be very careful with this kickstarter stuff.

Anyone in the world can say anything they want. Being that in the U.S there is little to no regulation over much of anything really is a big issue.

These kickstarter projects are really just folks in the States that are trying to make ends meet, lost a job and trying to pay bills.

More over you are paying money for a prototype, that is my biggest problem. Anything from a kickstarter project that is electronic is a 1st generation device and fact is full of problems and or much better versions later.

A word about importing and zoll. These folks say will ship anywhere in the world, however, have really no clue about much of anything, they just want your money.

CE is self declared and means nothing, GS, Tüv, UL or others are third party checked, a CE mark is just a simple form filled out where you say you think all is ok and sign it, finished.

Also none of the rules for datenschutz, wiederruf and all that stuff applies in the States, and if it breaks, well that is just your problem, in the States after something leaves the office, they don´t have to do another thing for you, done and finished..... forever!

Also, you should be buying local for shops within the EU, support your local shop. Tons of stuff like that around here, just have to look.

Hi Birk.

Of course there is some risk in supporting a US Kickstarter project. In this case it's maybe even bigger than in other cases, because the (one?) guy tries to revival an abandoned project. But the Brewtroller DX1 is a well working system and the DX2 design, he wants to build, was done by the original founders of the project.

Afaik, you won't find a (commercial) project like this on in europe. If you know a HERMS controller sold in Europe I'm glad to hear. As said, BrewPi may become a great brewing (HERMS) controller in the future. But it's a one- or two-man show as well.

The support of the original Brewtroller owners was great, I cannot say anything about the new owner. I just wanted to inform the community about the campaign.

You're right: Alway think about whom you give your money in advance. There is always a risk.

Regards,
